    Mystic Paws Salon & Spa
Client Policies, Liability & Service Agreement

    Liability & Hold Harmless Agreement

Mystic Paws Salon & Spa takes every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety and comfort of every pet in our care. However, grooming involves the use of clippers, scissors, dryers, bathing equipment, and other tools, and certain risks are inherent to the process.

Potential risks may include, but are not limited to, accidental nicks or minor injuries, stress or anxiety, skin or coat reactions, allergic reactions, eye or ear irritation, discovery of previously unknown health conditions, and aggravation of existing medical or skin conditions.

Please notify us before your appointment of any known allergies, sensitivities, injuries, medications, behavioral concerns, or medical conditions. Providing complete and accurate information helps us determine the safest way to handle and groom your pet.

By scheduling or receiving grooming services from Mystic Paws Salon & Spa, you acknowledge that grooming carries inherent risks and agree to release and hold harmless Mystic Paws Salon & Spa and its employees, contractors, and staff from claims related to injuries, allergic reactions, stress-related events, or medical complications that may occur during or following the grooming service, including those associated with pre-existing or previously unknown conditions.

    Emergency Veterinary Care

If your pet experiences a medical emergency while in our care, you authorize Mystic Paws Salon & Spa to obtain veterinary or emergency medical treatment when we believe it is necessary for your pet's safety.

You understand that any veterinary, transportation, treatment, or related expenses will be your responsibility. We will make every reasonable effort to contact you or your designated emergency contact as quickly as possible. If we cannot reach you immediately, we reserve the right to act in what we reasonably believe to be your pet's best interest.

Our team is trained in Pet First Aid and CPR. Emergency authorization and your preferred veterinary/emergency-care instructions must be kept on file.

    Health & Vaccination Policy

The health and safety of our clients, staff, and pets are extremely important to us. Pets must arrive in reasonably good health and be physically able to tolerate grooming.

Grooming can be physically and emotionally demanding, particularly for pets with heart conditions, respiratory concerns, anxiety, mobility limitations, or other medical or behavioral conditions. Please let us know before your appointment about any health conditions, recent surgeries, injuries, medications, anxiety, or special handling needs.

Depending on the circumstances, we may request veterinary clearance before grooming.

    Sick Pets

We do not groom pets who are visibly ill.

If your pet arrives showing signs of illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, contagious illness, open wounds, significant infection, or other concerning symptoms, we may refuse or reschedule the appointment. Please wait until your pet has recovered and is no longer contagious before returning for grooming.

    Vaccinations

We strongly recommend keeping all veterinarian-recommended vaccinations current. As your pet's owner or guardian, you are responsible for maintaining your pet's vaccination records.

Under Missouri law, dogs are required to have a current rabies vaccination. Please provide current veterinary records when requested and notify us if your veterinarian or veterinary records on file change.

These requirements help us maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for every pet.

    Coat Condition & Matting Policy

Your pet's comfort and well-being will always take priority over achieving a particular cosmetic result.

When a pet arrives with significant matting, shaving may be the safest option. Attempting to remove severe mats through prolonged brushing or de-matting can cause unnecessary pain, stress, bruising, or skin injury. We follow the principle of “Humanity Before Vanity” and will choose the grooming method that we believe is safest for your pet.

Severe or tight matting can also hide skin conditions and increase the possibility of irritation, clipper burn, redness, bruising, or accidental nicks. While we take appropriate precautions, some reactions or skin changes may occur as a result of the condition of the coat and cannot always be prevented.

Matted coats require additional time, specialized care, and increased wear on grooming equipment. An additional matting or de-matting fee may therefore be added to the regular grooming price.

There is no judgment here. We understand that schedules get busy and that coat maintenance can sometimes become difficult. Our goal is simply to help your pet get comfortable, healthy, and back on a manageable grooming routine.

When appropriate, we will provide an aftercare or maintenance guide to help you keep your pet's coat in better condition between appointments.

    Flea Policy

For the health and safety of all pets and people in our salon, Mystic Paws Salon & Spa does not provide grooming services for pets with an active flea infestation.

If live fleas are discovered on your pet upon arrival or during the grooming process, we may stop or decline the service. You will be referred to your veterinarian for appropriate flea treatment and prevention.

Please address any flea infestation before your pet's appointment. We recommend consulting your veterinarian for safe and effective flea-elimination and prevention options.

    Aggressive or Unsafe Behavior Policy

The safety of our staff, clients, and pets comes first.

Mystic Paws Salon & Spa reserves the right to refuse or discontinue grooming if a pet displays aggressive, dangerous, or unmanageable behavior. This includes repeated attempts to bite, severe struggling, or behavior that makes continuing the service unsafe.

If grooming must be stopped, you may be charged for the portion of the service and time already completed.

And yes—this policy applies to the humans, too. Please be kind to our team.

    Pet Waste Policy

Please give your pet an opportunity to use the bathroom before arriving for their appointment.

If your pet has an accident in the salon, please notify a staff member immediately and clean up after your pet when requested. Failure to clean up after your pet on our property may result in a cleaning fee.

Frequent or excessive accidents during grooming may require an additional bathing or cleaning charge.

If your pet is known to need a bathroom break during longer appointments, please let us know at drop-off so we can plan accordingly.

    Cancellation & No-Show Policy

We require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or appointment changes. This gives us an opportunity to offer the appointment to another client.

Appointments cancelled with less than the required notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

First offense: Courtesy warning. We understand that unexpected things happen.

Second offense: A fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service will be charged.

Third offense: 100% of the scheduled service will be charged, and future appointments will require full prepayment.

A missed appointment without notice is considered a no-show.

Following a no-show, future appointments may require full prepayment.

New clients who no-show will be required to prepay in full before another appointment can be scheduled.

We appreciate your consideration of our schedule. Appointment times are reserved specifically for your pet, and missed appointments directly affect our ability to serve other clients.

    Late Arrival Policy

Please contact us as soon as possible if you are running late.

Arrivals more than 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time may be considered a no-show and may be subject to the applicable cancellation fee.

If you are running behind, please call or text 636-255-9016. We will let you know whether we are able to accommodate the delay or need to reschedule.

    Drop-Off & Pick-Up Policy

Mystic Paws Salon & Spa is a grooming salon and does not provide boarding or daycare services.

For the safety and comfort of all pets:

Pets should not be dropped off more than 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment.

Pets must be picked up within 1 hour of receiving our completion notification.

A text message or phone call, if requested, will be sent when we know your pet is approaching the end of their appointment.

The one-hour pickup period begins when the completion notification is sent.

    Example:
If we contact you at 10:20 AM to let you know your pet will be ready around 11:00 AM, your pickup window begins at 10:20 AM and ends at 11:20 AM.

Pickups occurring after the designated window may result in a $1-per-minute late pickup fee.

We do have kennels available; however, some pets become stressed, anxious, or vocal when confined near other dogs after their grooming is complete. Whenever possible, we prefer to keep finished pets in our supervised playpen area. Space in this area is limited.

Early drop-offs or late pickups may require additional one-on-one supervision from our staff. If special supervision is necessary, an additional fee may apply.

We do our best to accommodate unexpected situations, but prompt pickup helps us keep the salon calm and allows us to provide appropriate attention to every pet.

Please also be aware that Mystic Paws Salon & Spa closes after the final groom of the day. Our closing time can vary depending on the day's schedule, and we will communicate expected timing when necessary.

    Photo & Video Release

We love celebrating our clients and sharing the results of our work!

From time to time, Mystic Paws Salon & Spa may photograph or record your pet before, during, or after their grooming appointment. Images or videos may be used on our website, social media pages, promotional materials, educational content, or other marketing channels.

By booking services with Mystic Paws Salon & Spa, you grant permission for us to use photographs or videos of your pet for these purposes.

We will not intentionally share your private personal information with these images. We're simply excited to show off your adorable pet and our grooming work!

If you do not want your pet photographed or featured, please let us know before or at the time of your appointment. We are happy to honor that request.

Payment is due at the time of service before pickup.

    Accepted Payment Methods

    Credit/debit cards

    Venmo

    Cashapp

Cash — please note that we may not always have change available

Returned payments or chargebacks will be subject to a $30 fee, and future services will require prepayment.

Tipping is never required or expected, but it is always appreciated.

    Inclement Weather Policy

The safety of our staff, clients, and pets comes first.

During severe, hazardous, or otherwise unsafe weather, Mystic Paws Salon & Spa may delay, reschedule, or cancel appointments.

If conditions make travel unsafe, we will notify affected clients as soon as reasonably possible. If you are unable to safely travel to your appointment because of weather, please contact us as early as possible.

Appointments missed because of hazardous weather will not be subject to a cancellation fee when timely notice is provided.

If the roads are safe, the salon remains open, and normal travel is possible, our standard cancellation policy remains in effect.

Thank you for understanding that safety comes before schedules.

    Re-Groom & Correction Policy

We want you and your pet to be happy with the finished groom.

If you have concerns about the haircut or grooming service, please contact us within 24 hours of pickup. We are happy to discuss reasonable corrections or adjustments when appropriate.

After the 24-hour period, any additional grooming will be considered a new appointment.

    Grooming services are non-refundable.

    One-on-One Grooming Policy

Some pets are much more comfortable with fewer distractions and dedicated individual attention.

Mystic Paws Salon & Spa offers a limited number of one-on-one grooming appointments for pets who benefit from a quieter environment and uninterrupted care.

Because these appointments require us to reserve additional time and limit the number of other pets we can schedule, an additional fee may apply.

If your pet becomes overwhelmed around other animals, requires extra individual attention, or simply does better in a quieter setting, please discuss one-on-one grooming with us before booking so we can determine the best option.

    Senior Pet Policy

We have a soft spot for our senior clients and understand that older pets often require additional patience, flexibility, and care.

For pets over 10 years of age, we may modify or shorten grooming services when necessary to prioritize comfort and safety over the final cosmetic result.

Senior pets may have age-related health conditions, arthritis, reduced mobility, cognitive changes, decreased stamina, or a lower tolerance for stress. Please tell us about any medical concerns, medications, mobility issues, cognitive changes, or special handling requirements when scheduling.

In certain situations, veterinary clearance may be required before grooming.

Older pets may have an increased risk of stress-related or age-related medical complications during grooming. By scheduling grooming services for a senior pet, you acknowledge these additional risks and agree to hold Mystic Paws Salon & Spa and its staff harmless from complications arising from age-related or pre-existing conditions, to the extent permitted by law.

We will always make reasonable efforts to keep senior pets comfortable, closely monitored, and treated with the patience and care they deserve.
